About the project
When NIRA Dynamics recently faced the challenge of finding added value in the vast amount of data they already possess, new ideas were needed quickly to effectively deliver the right information to their networks.
About NIRA Dynamics
NIRA Dynamics is a Swedish company focused on development of signal processing and control systems for the automotive industry. Their focus is on safer and more efficient movement along Sweden's roads, which includes helping car manufacturers and road owners increase their competitive edge, making road maintenance more environmentally friendly, and enabling the self-driving cars of the future. To tackle this challenge, they enlisted our help to streamline and focus their ideation process.
Purpose and result
Over the course of a workweek, the phases of the design sprint were followed to quickly move from idea to tested prototype, creating alignment, engagement, and cohesion around the way forward. A customized model was developed, designed to be applied or further adapted based on future problems, challenges, and areas of focus. An initial service (MVP) based on the problem statement was initiated, and a concrete action plan was created.

With design sprint as fuel
Led by our consultants, a group of participants from NIRA Dynamics carried out a so-called Design Sprint. A Design Sprint is a model that enables the development, testing, and evaluation of opportunities that would previously have taken months of back-and-forth work to complete—in just one week. The sprint moves at a fast pace through the following phases: map, sketch, decide, build, and test, consistently encouraging participants to think both quickly and broadly.
An innovative way forward
After the sprint, a simple, user-tested prototype was produced, which can serve as the foundation for an initial service (MVP). A tailored version of the design sprint was developed for NIRA Dynamics, based on all the input gathered during the week. Overall, this resulted in a clearer shared roadmap toward the vision and goals, as well as a shorter runway for future problem-solving and a stronger focus on making roads safer and more secure.
