Purpose

The client’s starting point was their desire for a new design for their product, giving us complete creative freedom. Initially, we assisted them with defining the requirements and narrowing the scope of the project to maximize the value of the delivery.

Result

A new interface with enhanced usability and accessibility for users.

Insights

Since the system was complex and tailored to experts in the field, it required significant effort to understand how it worked and identify areas for improvement. We learned about the different user need groups and how the system should address their specific requirements.

Defining

By analyzing user needs, we defined the tasks that users should be able to perform within the system and how they would accomplish them. This led to the identification of distinct user roles: • Monitoring User: Responsible for viewing system status. • Operator: Capable of creating new services. • Engineer: Authorized to install new machines. • Administrator: Granted all permissions within the system.

Tools

We used Figma as a design tool so that we could work collaboratively and invite the client to view the design proposals that were ready to be presented.

Analysis and testing

Once we had finalized the menu structure and the fundamental user flows, we presented our wireframes to Nevion's customer service team, who provided valuable feedback. We did not have direct access to the end users of their system, as their customers were government agencies and high-security companies. Therefore, direct analysis with users of the existing system was not feasible.
